Sara Ajnnak

With boundless tones, Sara weaves together history and the present in her innovative compositions. Sara Ajnnak’s latest album, “Homo Sapiens And My People” (2021), is, in a way, a historical portrayal but also a statement where Sara refreshingly conveys musical freedom that moves in the borderlands between ancient sounds, contemporary lyrics, melodious melodies, and electronic soundscapes in a playful manner.

Sara Ajnnak is one of our internationally recognized artists, with the world as her stage. In the summer of 2022, she conducted an extensive tour in Canada through the international program Nordic Bridges, and in the same autumn, she was selected through the acclaimed international network Global Music Match.

Sara Ajnnak is constantly paving new paths for Sami music. Her concerts are described as an exciting journey through time and space, where Sara Ajnnak, with her stage presence, captures the listener and conveys emotions that reach deep into the soul.

Sara’s album from 2018 was nominated for a Swedish Grammis in February 2019 and won the Album of the Year award in the World Traditional category at The Independent Music Awards in New York the same year. The album was further celebrated at the annual folk & world music gala.

Over the next two years, Sara Ajnnak will embark on a tour with her band and visuals, incorporating dynamic content that enhances the audience’s experience, welcoming them into Sara’s world with multiple senses.

In connection with the concerts, workshops in joik can be arranged for adults or children.
